1. Take a guided tour around our beautiful campus

Maybe you’re from Ottawa and think you know Carleton like the back of your hand, or maybe you have never stepped foot on campus. There is always more to be discovered! Our student-run guided tours allow incoming students to learn about campus services firsthand. Boarded by the Rideau River and Rideau Canal, we are proud of our campus and excited to show you what we have to offer.

2. Meet future classmates and make friends early

Summer Orientation offers more than just a campus tour. Did you know that Summer Orientation has sessions geared towards specific degree programs? If you’re going into engineering, science, or the arts, we encourage you to register for our spotlight days! This gives incoming students the opportunity to connect with others who might be in the same classes as them in the future.

3. Listen to presentations on Carleton’s services and transition programs!

We understand that transitioning into first year can be stressful sometimes. Start university off being well informed about all the support services Carleton has to offer! We want you to feel right at home, knowing all about our campus and academic services, Orientation, and Mentorship programs.

4. Avoid the line by picking up your Campus Card and U-Pass

Line ups at the Campus Card Office can get pretty long on the first week of school in September. When you come to Summer Orientation, you can pick up your cards early and avoid spending your first hours on campus waiting in line.

5. Get help registering for courses!

Picking your courses is one of the most important academic choices you will make. We know that learning what classes you have to register in can be super confusing- Don’t worry! At Summer O sessions, students get help figuring out what courses they have to take, and what electives are available for them.

6. Learn how to finance your education!

University can be expensive. Between tuition, textbooks, housing accommodations, entertainment, food and most importantly…coffee, it can add up. Many of us start wondering how we will be able to fund our education for the next four years. Have no fear! We will explain the details on how to make payments, apply for OSAP, bursaries, scholarships etc.
